Ashery had conducted a number of public interventions as her alter ego, the religious Jewish man named Marcus Fisher, inspired by her Jewish religious extended maternal family and her upbringing in Jerusalem. Video footage from interventions in Berlin, Tel Aviv and London as Marcus Fisher, together with home videos and anonymous photographic stills, make up the sixteen-minute mockumentary Marcus Fisher’s Wake, charting the fictional life of the character from childhood to his early death.
